Gypsum Manufacturing Process

The gypsum ore is first extracted from quarries and underground mines, and then go through manufacturing process. Primarily it will be crushed and stockpiled near the plant. Based on specific applications, the stockpiled ore is further crushed and screened to around 50 millimeters.

If the moisture content of the mined ore is more than about 0.5 weight percent, the ore need to be dried up by a rotary dryer or a heated roller mill; the ground gypsum exits the mill in a gas stream and is gathered in a product cyclone.

Gypsum Ore Crushing Machine

Gypsum crushing is the crucial step prior to processing further, especially when following heating is going to be carried out a pan instead of a shaft kiln. Crushing would manufacture more uniform particles and needs less energy to heat. Gypsum crushing can be carried out by three steps: primary crushing, secondary crushing and tertiary crushing. The gypsum crushing facilities employed are typically including jaw crusher, impact crusher, cone crusher and mobile crusher etc. Crushing should reduce the gypsum to grains of under a few millimetres across. Gypsum sand doesn't need crushing.
